D.U.S.T. 2026

Memorial Day Weekend: Lobo Flats, Texas

Campout: Thursday through Monday

Art Show & Live Music: Saturday

The Story:

The inspiration for D.U.S.T comes from the Lobo ghost town and the group of Germans who held music and art festivals there for over 20 years. Although we are nine miles from the ghost town, our goal is to keep the spirit of Lobo alive by continuing the tradition of gatherings around art, music and community.

Our first D.U.S.T gathering was Memorial Day weekend 2025 . The first DUST Campout was held in October 2025 , and was more about downtime and connection. Moving forward, D.U.S.T. Campout will be Thursday to Monday of Memorial Day Weekend with a live music and art show on Saturday. For more info on the Saturday Art & Music show, please follow us on Instagram, or check our simple music schedule & art map, posted here the day before.

D.U.S.T. is a collaboration hosted by Wini Hunton-Chan, Adam Bork and friends. Here’s to the D.U.S.T. community and to all the friends we haven’t met yet.

Camp:

BYO everything, especially drinking water. With that said, we have shade, grills, a solar shower and composting toilets. We have enough solar power to charge your phone, etc., but not much more. It can be, well, dusty here. The intensity of the weather is part of the magic. We might have dust storms, thunder storms, intense heat or perfect weather. You should be comfortable camping off-grid in the desert with unpredictable weather. If not, staying in Van Horn, Fort Davis, Valentine or Marfa works too.

Connect:

Connection & community is what it is all about, but in the most low-stakes way possible. We have an introvert campground, about one mile away from the music barn, where you can go to bed early and ponder the silence and the stars. Or you can stay up all night playing music. Connect with the land and each other. Have the conversations you’ve been longing for. Or enjoy the solitude. Share a meal, a snack, a drink. Or don’t. Just show up and be curious. The rest will follow.

Create:

Bring your projects. Come make something. We are not gatekeeping creation here. Contact us about any art installations or about spaces/electricity/other needs for any project you’d like to do. Although D.U.S.T. has roots in music and art, we are also teachers, nature lovers, DIYers and generally curious people. We welcome those who may not consider themselves artists or musicians. Lead a workshop. Create a PowerPoint. Crochet a blanket. We’re here for it. If you would like to participate in the Saturday show, please let us know.

Perform:

If you'd like to play music or perform, either around the campfire, or in the music barn, please message Adam Bork. Although the show day is Saturday, music will be happening the whole weekend with amps and instruments available in the music barn 24/7. We can also host performances in the school bus lounge and Singlewhyd. Performances are not limited to music. We welcome all kinds of performance. We can also screen film/video in several places around the property. Just send us a message so we can prepare.

How it Works:

Email dustlobo@gmail.com for directions and with questions. Please do not be afraid to ask questions! Show up. If you want to share something – a song, a sculpture, a workshop, a performance, a reading, a cocktail, whatever! – write your offering on one of our chalkboards at the start of the day. The chalkboards will become our collaborative program. As the day goes on, we’ll share pics of the chalkboards to our Instagram for non-campers driving in from town.

D.U.S.T. will always be a free gathering; however, we welcome dāna, in the form of tips for performers, support for artists, and donations to cover our expenses. We recognize that your presence, time and energy is also a gift.

Contact:

Wini for most questions. Adam for questions regarding sound & music & explosions.

We look forward to hearing from you!
